There are many different ways that animals and plants collect water to survive and adapt to their environment. FACTS
Cacti and desert plants stretch out their roots to collect more ground water
Rain forest leaves are big so water can drip down to the ground and water the trees
Camels can store water and fat in their bodies so they don’t need to drink for up to seven months.
If you thought camels lasted a long time without water think again, the kangaroo rat can last nearly its whole life and it lives for 10 years and it still has enough energy to jump 3m high!
Dolphins and other sea-dwelling mammals can obtain water from their food and by producing it internally from the metabolic breakdown of food. Although some marine mammals are known to drink seawater at least on occasion, it is not well established that they routinely do so as it can be unhealthy or them.
